#1 Acidic liquids and foods produce FAT!
The body has been designed to protect itself against those things that are not good for the body. One way it does this is by creating fat cells in order to protect our organs from excess acids. So the body produces fat and its main job is to carry these acidic waste products away to other, areas of the body that are less critical then the fat cells cling to these areas to provide protection. As the body gets Alkaline it no longer needs to hang onto these fat cells for protection and thus starts letting them go and getting rid of the acidic wastes (through a healthy diet and exercise).
Another reason to avoid acids and get alkaline is that Acidosis contributes to weight problems is the fact that yeast and fungus thrive in an acidic environment. Over-growths of yeast and fungus can wreak havoc digestive systems and this is why we are seeing more and more people are being diagnosed with digestive disorders. The chain reaction of this is problem is now that the digestion system is not functioning correctly it is not able to properly process foods and extract the vital nutrients from the foods that you eat. To compound this problem your body will be continually telling you that you are hungry. And because of the yeast and fungus thrives on acid (sugar) the signal being sent to the brain is “give me more” – more sugar or acid foods the greater the yeast growth. So you can see the viscous cycle that this produces.

Over-acidity causes the body to go into a fight or flight mode. So what I mean by this, your body is always at work trying to maintain the correct ph balance 7.35 and if your body acidic then it is going to work overtime and will begin to leach alkaline minerals and nutrients from our bones, muscles and other tissues to ensure that the blood maintains its proper delicate alkaline balance. As the body begins to deplete these alkaline minerals (particularly calcium) it creates an inefficient and ineffective cellular and body metabolism. This is what causes the body to become sluggish, tired and cloudy. To put it in simple terms – over acidity depletes the bodies of energy and restricts the body’s ability to use stored energy reserves. This process of leaching calcium from our bones is one of the main culprits in the cause of osteoporosis.

Oxidation is the result of Free-Radical Damage in the body. Acidosis is both a symptom of – and the root cause of – oxidative stress and lipid breakdown. Free Radicals can be found everywhere in ultraviolet rays, pollution, stress and poor diet. That’s right Acid is corrosive – if you get battery acid on your clothes it will eat them away if you get it on your skin it will burn. The same is true if your blood and bodily fluids are overly acidic. They go to work almost immediately to corrode and destroy cell walls of the essential blood moving highways like the heart, veins and arteries – bringing about a much weakened cardiovascular system, prone and susceptible to coronary disease.
#5 Causes Cholesterol Levels to Increase!
When our bodies are continually functioning in an acidic environment, another common problem is Bad Cholesterol . In this environment the body creates LDL-Cholesterol (Bad Cholesterol) at an accelerated rate. LDL collects in the walls of blood vessels, causing the blockages of atherosclerosis. Higher LDL levels put you at greater risk for a heart attack from a sudden blood clot in an artery narrowed by atherosclerosis.
#6 Skyrocketing Blood Pressure!
It only makes since when the acidic environment mentioned above exists, and the increased LDL Cholesterol combined compromised cell health, no doubt the heart is going to have to work increasingly harder to keep the blood pumping throughout the body. Acidosis has also been blamed for venous vasoconstriction (which is a decrease in diameter of the blood vessels) increasing the workload of the heart and increasing the blood pressure!

Oxygen is a crucial component to optimal health. So over-acidification of the body is compounded by the fact that an acidic pH decreases the amount of oxygen than can reach our cells including the brain (this is why more and more people are complaining of brain fog, and an inability to concentrate). Remember that without oxygen our cells die!
