Ever wonder what’s in your food? About 75% of processed foods in the U.S. contain genetically engineered ingredients (aka., genetically modified organisms or GMOs) and most of us eat these on a daily basis without even knowing it. Why does it matter? Join us to find out about the growing evidence of health risks from experts!
GMOs and what you need to know?
A GMO is the result of a laboratory process where genes from one species—including bacteria, viruses, insects, animals, or humans—are forced into the DNA of unrelated plants or animals. This process is loaded with dangerous side effects.
There are two main types of GMO crops. The first is the herbicide tolerant varieties that are engineered to withstand high doses of toxic weed killers. These are the very toxins that are linked to birth defects, cancer, and hormone disruption, and that’s right they end up inside our food.
The second is Corn that has been genetically altered to produce its very own poisonous insecticide in every cell. The insecticide is known as Bt-toxin, it kills certain insects by breaking open their stomachs.
GMOs are Dangerous to humans
This is the frightening part; recent evidence has revealed that this insecticide Bt-toxin can have the same effect on humans by breaking down the walls of human cells. Research has found that Bt-toxin from genetically modified corn was found in the blood of 93% of pregnant women and 80% of their unborn fetuses.
GMOs cause reproductive problems, and infant mortality
Research test have show that more than half the babies of mother rats fed GMO soy died within three weeks. Similar tests revealed that rodents fed GMO soy had changes in their ovaries, uterus, or testicles, including altered young sperm cells. The DNA of mouse embryos functioned differently when the parents ate GMO soy.
“Genetically engineered foods contain new proteins that children have not been previously exposed to. I believe this may be responsible in part for the profound increase in allergies and immune dysfunction that I am witnessing,”
